Evergreen (Alzheimer's) Services

The Evergreen Program at Barrington Terrace is designed for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other related memory conditions who need structure, routine, redirection and guidance. The Evergreen environment allows a resident to function with some measure of independence, while remaining under supervision.

Program features:

  • Program Director dedicated to and specifically trained in memory care
  • Custom-designed neighborhood with private dining and activity area
  • Outdoor walking paths and flower gardens
  • Individual plan of care for each resident
  • English speaking, trained and engaged staff
  • Medication management under the direct supervision of clinical nurses
  • Engaging and structured activities throughout the day
  • Family support program
  • Incontinence management and services associated with incontinence

Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA: Teepa Snow, a nationally recognized educator on issues related to dementia care, has helped us deepen our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents throughout our assisted living community.
Originally trained as an Occupational Therapist, Teepa has worked at the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina, the Duke University School of Nursing and the UNC School of Medicine during her more than 25 years in geriatrics. She is the recipient of numerous national awards and is a highly engaging and sought-after presenter at national conferences. She has worked in all aspects of geriatric care, from research studies to the training of direct care staff and has published extensively on the subjects of aging and dementia care.

Teepa is deeply committed to providing the highest quality of care to residents with dementia and to individualizing that care for each resident. Her training focuses on preserving the functional abilities of residents in a supportive and compassionate setting and to a heightened level of resident engagement with meaningful activities. She has been an invaluable resource to many families, helping them to better understand Alzheimer’s disease and the specific challenges faced by their loved ones.
